You see, these are, for the most part, private manors and luxurious residences which were adapted to Hotels, Inns, Restaurants. Because of that, when we receive someone in our Hotel, we are, by definition, also opening the doors to our homes - since these Hotels ARE our homes. Hence the personal in it, the Honor which is naturally vested in the act of checking-in a guest in these properties.
